BASSETERRE, KN / ACCESS Newswire / October 8, 2026 / St. Kitts and Nevis citizens living in the United States who obtained their citizenship through the Citizenship Programme must complete biometric enrollment under the country’s National Biometric Enrolment and Passport Modernisation Programme. The deadline is July 31, 2027, and after that date only biometric passports will be accepted for travel.

The programme launched on April 14, 2026 and brings the St. Kitts and Nevis passport onto the same biometric standard already used across the United States, the European Union and the United Kingdom.
US-based citizens enroll at the designated Washington, D.C. area centre, which went live in July 2026 as the third North American location after Ottawa and Toronto. Appointments are booked through an Authorised Agent on the official Government of St. Kitts and Nevis Biometric Enrolment Platform.
Who needs to complete biometric enrollment
Every citizen who obtained citizenship through the Citizenship Programme has to enroll, and so do dependants. Children can enroll from the age of five.
Citizenship status is not affected. Citizenship cannot be revoked or suspended for non-compliance, and a citizen who misses the deadline loses the use of the passport until they enroll.
Centres run on booked appointment slots, not walk-in capacity. With every Citizenship Programme citizen and dependant worldwide working to the same date, demand concentrating in the final months is a predictable problem, which is the argument for enrolling early.
Where to enroll in the United States
The Washington, D.C. area is the only designated US location. Citizens elsewhere in North America can use Ottawa or Toronto if either is more convenient, and the global network also covers London, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Hong Kong, Istanbul, Singapore, Lagos, Jeddah and Iraq.
Availability changes as the network expands, so the platform itself is the reliable source at the point of booking.
Citizens who cannot travel to a centre because of age, illness or other circumstances can apply to the Ministry of National Security for consideration under extenuating circumstances, assessed case by case. A mobile collection service can also be requested where conditions in a country of residence prevent attendance.
How to book an appointment
1. Contact an Authorised Agent
The Authorised Agent provides the personalised registration link and the Authorised Agent Code needed to reach the platform. The applicant then completes the registration personally, because it involves identity verification and live photographs that an agent cannot do on their behalf.
2. Register on the official platform
Registration uses the Certificate of Registration number and personal details. Once the account exists, the applicant fills in the required information, selects the Washington, D.C. area centre and picks a date and time.
3. Pay the enrollment and passport upgrade fee
Payment goes through the official platform during booking. The appointment then moves to Waiting for Agent Confirmation until the Authorised Agent confirms it.
4. Attend the appointment
The appointment takes 15 to 30 minutes. Applicants bring their current St. Kitts and Nevis passport for identification and keep it; the document is not surrendered, and ordinary passport applications and renewals carry on in the meantime.
5. Complete biometric enrollment
Biometric capture covers fingerprints, a digital facial image, a digital signature and, where applicable, an iris scan. The Citizenship Unit says the data is captured once and carried into the passport, so adults do not repeat enrollment at every renewal.
Confirmation goes to the citizen and the Authorised Agent, after which the passport upgrade proceeds.
What it costs
Government fees cover both biometric enrollment and the passport upgrade. A 10 percent reduction applies to enrollments booked and completed between July 20 and December 31, 2026. Standard fees resume on January 1, 2027, and the reduction is not applied retroactively.
| Applicant | Standard fee | Until December 31, 2026 |
| Main adult applicant aged 16 and over | US$2,500 | US$2,250 |
| Second adult applicant | US$2,000 | US$1,800 |
| Child under 16 | US$1,300 | US$1,170 |
Fees are paid on the official Government of St. Kitts and Nevis platform at the time of booking. Authorised Agent fees are charged separately. Enrollment through any other platform or third-party provider is prohibited, so any website or intermediary requesting payment outside the official system should be treated with caution.
